who we are
SCHIP, Inc. is an acronym for Shelburne, Charlotte and Hinesburg Interfaith Projects
SCHIP was formed in 2003 as a 501(c)(3) organization of local faith communities. We work together to raise funds for grants to improve the lives of our neighbors and to strengthen our communities.
Funds are generated by the sale of items donated locally to SCHIP Upscale Resale. From store proceeds, over $920,000 in grants have been made to support food shelves and emergency aid, community projects, education, health and welfare needs.
WHO WE ARE
The SCHIP Board of Directors includes two members from each of the following
faith communities, as well as members at large:
All Souls Interfaith Gathering, Shelburne
Charlotte Congregational Church, UCC
United Church of Hinesburg
Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Charlotte
Shelburne United Methodist Church
St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, Shelburne
St. Jude's Catholic Church, Hinesburg
Trinity Episcopal Church, Shelburne
Who we help
Many people have wondered who we help and what kind of help we provide. We give monetary grants. The association/ organization receiving the grant must be another nonprofit that helps improve the lives of those living in Shelburne, Charlotte, and Hinesburg communities.
We award grants twice a year. So far, SCHIP's grants supported over 100 organizations in the past; see the list below.
