who we are:

a little history

SCHIP, Inc. is an acronym for Shelburne, Charlotte, Hinesburg, Interfaith Projects

SCHIP was formed in 2003 as a 501(c)(3) organization of local faith communities. We work together to raise funds for grants to improve the lives of our neighbors and to strengthen our communities.

Funds are generated by the sale of items donated to SCHIP Charitable Upscale Resale. From store proceeds, over $920,000 in grants have been made to support food shelves and emergency aid, community projects, education, health and welfare needs.

WHO WE ARE

The SCHIP Board of Directors includes two members from each of the following faith communities, as well as members at large:

Who we help

Many people have wondered who we help and what kind of help we provide. We give monetary grants. The association receiving the grant must be another nonprofit and they must help to improve the lives of those living in our communities of Shelburne, Charlotte, and Hinesburg.  We award grants twice a year. Below is a list of those who have received money from SCHIP since its opening.  There are over 100 and some have received awards several times.
